Dallas, Day 1

by micah on November 28, 2007

Hi everyone!

I safely arrived in Dallas, Texas, last night at around 5:00pm (central time)–actually a half hour early πŸ™‚ Someone picked me up at the airport, drove me to the International Linguistics Center. I got to my room in their guest house.

Not soon after, I joined most of the rest of the participants of the workshop at the home of one of the leaders. There we talked and got to know each other while having dessert.

This morning at 8:30 we started our workshop. It has been pretty interesting. It’s a very interactive workshop and we have covered a lot of information. I enjoyed it and I think I learned some stuff, but I have been tired most of the day. I slept well and the lodgings here are nice and comfortable. However, a day of information after a long day of travel probably took more energy than I thought.

Please pray that I would get rested up and not be tired tomorrow. I tend to get critical and passive when I’m tired–which aren’t helpful for learning something new πŸ™‚ A large portion of the workshop is preparing for and doing some “teaching” of my own together with a partner. Pray that I will find a suitable topic and that I would be humble as I attempt to put into practice what we are being taught.

In any case, I thank you for your prayers and will continue to keep you apprised of how things go here.

I am praying for you, Micah. It sounds like a really neat program. Psalm 127 says that God β€œgrants sleep to those He loves,” and God loves you very much! He has worked out everything else so marvelously!

I’ll pray. Maybe you could teach on how to create a bird sanctuary in your backyard.
