Merrrrrrrrry Christmas!

Merry Christmas dear extended family,

Kristen, Virginia and I arrived at Mom and Dad Brauer’s last nite just in time for a delicious meal featuring mom’s famous potatoe soup and then off to their Christmas eve service! I finally got to meet my other-brother-in-law Eric and Nathan was there too! Yeah! After we came home from church Pop-pop read the christmas story from Mathew, emphasizing Joseph’s obedience to God’s revelations. Then we ate lots and lots of delicious christmas cookies, and exchanged gifts.

It is fun to experience new and different (to me)Christmas traditions like opening gifts on christmas eve. I must say, now that I am not a young person anymore with springs in my feet (and back) opening presents the night before makes it a lot easier to sleep in and get to the breakfast (brunch) table without all the hullaballoo. Hmmmm, it may be time to adopt some new traditions in my house.

Of course the day was not complete without a game of Brauer rummy (Katie won) and more delicious food and cookies. We enjoyed our time so much and were especially thankful to have all the Brauer’s together in the same house for the first time since Kristen and I have been married. God is so good and gentle with all of us his children. We are grateful for the love we have in him as we take the time today to consider that particular blessing of family-in-the-Lord and a rest from our activities.

love to all,

Adam & Kristen

Glad you got to be with extended family today–and that Eric and Nathan could be there too. Family is a great blessing from the Lord. When I was growing up we always opened our presents on Christmas Eve, after a supper of split pea soup.

We didn’t have time to have the split-pea soup last night, though, so we had it today 🙂

Sounds like you all had a wonderful time. I wish we could have been there with you!

We have a little different tradition in the Churchill household. We open one gift Christmas eve (new pajamas for all the kids every year), and then the rest on Christmas morning.
Blessings!!

We picked up Eric from the Charlotte airport this evening, took him to a restaurant, bought him a steak dinner, and enjoyed catching up with him after several years of being disconnected from him. We all enjoyed it.

Glad to hear you were able to do that with Eric.
