Update from Nathan

by Nathan Brauer on February 13, 2012

OK 2 things to be praying for. The first is immediate and short term, and the second is more on-going.

1. Walker County recently asked the station captains to take shifts as safety officers. Due to timing and technology issues on their end, I only recently gained access for signing up and my first shift starts after work tomorrow and will run until 7AM Wednesday morning. So the prayer request is multifaceted. A) that any calls that I have to respond to would go well, personnel would be stay safe, and that I would represent myself well. I have had a lot of training, but my district is small and I honestly don’t get a lot of practice. B) That I would feel physically well as I am wither psyching myself out or I am coming down with something. C) That I barring calls that I need to respond to, that I would be able to sleep as the pager will go off for every call in the county regardless. D) That I will be able to function at work on Wednesday.

2. My role at work has changed and I have moved teams. Pray that I would integrate well with my new team, that they would learn to accept my judgements and not be resentful (part of my job is to audit for efficiency) and that I would really help in the development of the team. Pray also that I would gain the trust of the manager as he really needs some help letting go of some things.

Does your change of work come with an increase in remuneration?

Thank you. I made it through the evening and work day without incident.

Uncle Gary – my new responsibilities does not come with any new funds. I frankly am unconvinced that they will see the benefits they are looking for and that I was fully accomplishing their expected benefits with my old role…but they did not ask me.
