Baby News

So far God has answered our prayers.  Melissa’s blood pressure did go down, but we must continue to pray that it will stay down.

Here’s the deal: Melissa’s body is done with being pregnant, so the midwife believes that the best course of action would to be to aggressively go after the baby.  She is going to start with a membrane sweep (very painful), then upon successful dilation they will break Melissa’s water.  Through all of this, it is important that Melissa’s blood pressure stays down and that her body reacts to these more aggressive procedures in the form of real labor contractions.  If her blood pressure goes up or if she doesn’t start contracting after her water is released, then we will be transferred to the hospital.

Even if all does go well they expect it to be a longer process.  Lord willing we will have the baby tomorrow but it may be Wednesday.

The baby is very healthy.  Melissa is in good spirits, but we both, of course, are a little nervous – hoping that we can have the baby with the midwife as planned – and we are a lot excited to meet our new baby girl.

I talked to Janie. She and Brea decided to rent a car and go down to be with Melissa. Winter was born early this morning. I don’t really know many details. She weighed 5 lb and 15 oz. And I think she was born around 7:30 am. Alan or Janie or Drew can add more details.

Janie and Brea are in Brunswick, GA – on their way down to Orlando – should be there around midnight. Mom and baby are doing fine. I will try and attach the one pict Drew sent.
