David has actually been in Charlotte since Tuesday. He is scheduled to go back to Nashville tomorrow morning, though I don’t know how that will work out. We’ll have to play it by ear. We tried to call some friends there, but the call won’t go through.

Plus I am parked at the lowest point at the Nashville Airport. I am concerned that my car may be under water.

We were unaware of such heavy rain in the Nashville, area. We shall certainly be praying that your car is still safe. Dad & Judy

We have been so busy we didn’t hear of the heavy rains and flooding either. Hope your car is dry.

The devastation here is heartbreaking! I had a real good view of much of the area from my window seat on the plane. Makes my tirelessly long trip here seem so insignificant. The Opryland hotel is ruined, so is the Grand Ole Opry, most businesses downtown, etc. They just found two bodies behind a grocery store only a few miles from where we used to live, and another body behind another grocery store not far from there. Bellevue, where we used to live, was the hardest hit… 22.75 inches of rain in two days. Add to that the 6 inches we had here last weekend and in 8 days, they received almost 30 inches of rain. Unprecedented to be sure! This is near the confluence of the Harpeth and Cumberland Rivers. Our old neighbors are safe. That culdesac is high and dry. The electrical power station near there, however, is completely submerged under water, so they will not have electricity for quite some time. Many grocery stores do not have electricity. The new Schemmerhorn Symphony Hall downtown has 24 feet of water in it. The NHL Arena where the Predators play is the largest indoor swimming pool in the world right now. No one here has flood insurance. I was having dinner this evening at Qudoba and a woman received a phone call from a neighbor telling her that she couldn’t come home because the water was up over her porch and had risen 14 inches in the last 45 minutes. Why she was at Qudoba, I don’t know. Pray for all these people who have lost loved ones and their homes. 22 dead and counting. There is a cufew at dusk and the National Guard has closed off Franklin.

We will be praying for the whole city and outlying areas and for you all as well. I am glad you are safe. I guess your car was OK? I guess this will narrow down where you look for houses. How sad for everyone. I am assuming your place of business and church are fine.

What a report. It seems there have been a series of terrible natural tragedies, earthquakes, floods, and the like. Back in February I think it was, much of the state of Rhode Island was under water.
