Madison

by Alan on March 18, 2009

I’ve been in Madison, Wisconsin since Saturday.  I’m working as interim pastor of Lake Trails PCA for two Sundays a month.  I stay in town for 8 days to cover two weekends.  We (both us and the church) are using this opportunity to take our time and see if we might like to make this a permanent thing.  So far things look hopeful.  We appreciate your prayers for us as we consider this.

I assume this is a church that has a large ministry to the university crowd. What is the University of Wisconsin at Madison known for?

That’s about 12 hours from Chattanooga. Oh well.

Not sure what UW is most known for. It’s obviously a major university, offering a variety of graduate and undergraduate programs – including it’s own med school. One of the elders at the church teaches in the Veterinary Science graduate school. Because of the university, Madison is known for being an extremely liberal town – it’s known as the Berkeley of the Midwest. And, since the city primarily runs off the government (university and state capital), it has been affected little by the economic downturn. It’s a very beautiful city, set between several lakes. The heart of the city, including the capital building, sits on a narrow isthmus 10-12 blocks wide between two major lakes.

I hear Madison is a very nice, outdoorsy, yet liberal town.

Does the Church have a web site? Dad

The church’s web site is: http://laketrailschurch.org/. However, they recently fired their pastor, and when they did, they reduced the web site to only basic information.

We will be praying about this. God always has exciting things planned for us.
