Dallas, Day 3

by micah on November 30, 2007

Today has been the best day so far. I feel like all 14 of us who are participating/facilitating the workshop are finally becoming comfortable with each other in a way that significantly enhances the learning process. Also, most of today was spent with each of us (in groups of 2) preparing and presenting a 40-minute “module”–what they are calling a unit of…teaching/learning (for lack of a better way of putting it).

I really enjoyed these practice presentations. One group would give their presentation. Then the facilitators would have the presenters comment on what they liked about their own presentation and what they would do differently next time. Then the facilitators asked the same questions of the rest of the participants. Everyone did a good job and it was fun.

We are having two practice presentations. The firs time, one of the two people in a groups does the presentation while the other helps. In the second presentation, the roles are reversed. Today I helped my partner with his presentation and on Monday he will help me with mine. I would appreciate your prayers for my presentation, since I haven’t yet chosen a topic. Thankfully, I have the weekend to think/work on it.

On Sunday I will most likely spend the majority of the day in Plano, TX (on the opposite side of Dallas where I’m taking the workshop), where there is a church that supports my parents. Other than Sunday school and a worship service in the morning, the church is having a Christmas festival in the evening, so I will probably do that, too. One the other guys participating in the workshop will actually also be present at that church. He also works for MTW and has worked with my Dad before, I think.

Oh, I also slept better last night. My guess is that I will probably be sleeping just fine by the time it’s time to leave 🙂

Thank you for your prayers!

We are looking forward to seeing you. It was good to chat with you(thru Dad) and looking forward to hearing first hand all you learned. Sounds like you had fun in the process.
