My first day at Ingersoll Rand went pretty well. It will be a more tactical job than some I have had in the past. Yet with less responsibilities (in some ways). I think I will like it well enough, but still don’t expect after all I’ve been through. I tried to show enough energy, yet am trying only to see it as a means to an end and not so much a career.
The people were welcoming and friendly (in my department). The HR person who was supposed to go over benefits, forms, etc. canceled on me and said I was basically on my own. That stinks!
I am already learning more about the Training side (that I didn’t know before). But it feels weird not being involved in the Organization/Talent Development side. My commute was right at 1 hour both ways, so a little better than I expected. I was already doing 45-50 minutes. So, not too much longer.
Thanks for all your prayers!

I hope you like it better than you think you will.
I am glad to hear things are going well. Do you like that you have less responsibilities?
So what kinds of things are included in “tactical?”
Glad to hear the update. I will pray that as you continue in this role that you will like it more and more (not that I want to keep you from Chatt).
Amen, Nathan. I’ll also pray you can continue to enjoy your new job–while still seeing it as transitional.
I hope the adjust time will be short and you will enjoy it.
Thank you all for your kind words. While I am so glad we don’t have to go through the process of moving again, I am still wishing we could be in Chattanooga.
By tactical I mean planning specific details of specific training courses, budgeting $$ per participant, writing justifications for budgeted $$, etc.
I liked today better than yesterday. My three peers and other support folks have been the most helpful of just about any place I’ve worked.
We firmly believe that each day is a day that the Lord has made, therefore we are to rejoice in it and be glad. This is the job the Lord provided, so look for ways in which to rejoice and show gladness. Who knows someone there may be desperately in need of your help. Seek to be helpful to all around you and you may be amazed at what God can do. Dad &Judy
