A Saying I made up

by sejwa on October 4, 2007

‘For every careless act, there are seven deeds required to recover.’

I thought of this one time when I spilled something in the kitchen, and it took five minutes to clean everything up. This was time I could have spent finishing cooking. Let me know if you think there is a better way to say it. Or does something like it already exist?

It’s a good saying. Here’s one that is similar in intent but looks at it from another angle:

A stitch in time saves nine.

I like it. How about “For every careless, there are seven repairs to be made.” I’ll thinks some more.

Or how about just “For every careless act, there are seven repairs.” ?

How about:
One careless deed, ten fixes will need.

Here’s another possibility:

One careless deed, ten cares will breed.

I like yours Gary as well as the original. However, does deed have the same connotation as act?
