Being a Blessing at TGIF?

by micah on December 15, 2005

I remember that when i first started out at TGIf, I wanted (and prayed that) my life as a Christian to be evident to my fellow workers, and, in some way, to be a blessing to them. I think I am beginning to see the answer to this prayer…

…I haven’t been secretive about being a Christian, though not zelously verbal about it either. One day, however, a new server said he had to appologize to me. On a day that I had been helping to train a new host person who has a somewhat ill repute he assumed I also must have an ill repute, so he had been avoiding me. But, he said that he had “found out” that I was a good Christian person, and wanted to appologize for automatically thinking ill of me. Naturally I forgave him (and was glad he didn’t think ill of me).

…now, I have had several opportunities to encourage that same server to return to church. Apparently he grew up in the PCA and his parents still attend church, but he is dissillusioned with the numerous people (and sometimes whole churches) that call themselves “Christian” but don’t act or live like Christians. I think I have been able to encourage him based on my own experience in life and my knowledge of the Bible; and, I think he respects me for wanting to help him.

…I also had the opportunity to encourage one of the Hostesses when she was feeling anxious. I’m not sure she believes in Jesus, but she is somewhat familiar with the Bible, and I was able to present the gospel to her–that she need not be anxious about anything, but believing in Jesus, she will have mind-surpassing peace. She commented to me that she was glad we had spoken together, because she knew I would be inspiring/encouraging.

So, it looks like God is using me (though a sinner) to be a blessing to others–an answer to prayer–for which I thank and praise God! I have found that I get really excited when I have opportunities to encourage or help people, so I’m thankful for the opportunities I’ve had at TGIF. If you think of it, pray that God would use me at TGIF for the glory of his name.

Thanks for sharing this, Micah. And I’m sure he has used you in ways you don’t even realize.

Wow, that’s really amazing. To bring joy to others is so…joyful! God truly is amazing, working through His children, and it is a blessing to see Him do so.

How exciting! It is so encouraging to see God move through his people. We are servants in the kingdom of God, soldiers in the army of the Lord. We are powerful weaklings. How exciting! I am so glad for you, Micah, and I rejoice at this news.

That’s really great Micah. It’s neat to see that our labors of love for the Lord are not in vain.
