Categories

by Gary on December 28, 2006

The “Uncategorized” category has been changed to “Default” with the reminder “(uncheck)” next to it. This category comes checked by default, and I can’t change it. But it isn’t helpful because it’s too general. I have now put it at the top of the category list so it is easy to access and to uncheck.

I have also added the “birthday” and “holiday” categories. If you want other categories you can create your own (under Manage: Categories), or ask me and I will do it.

I think the most helpful way to categorize for finding posts later on is to choose at least one Content category and one People category (usually the author).

You might want to go back and add the “Birthday” category to your past birthdays–and deselect the “news” category on these. Just click on the Manage link at the top of this page. Then, under the Manage menu, click on Posts. Then do a search for “birthday” or something like that. Look for the post you want to add the category to and choose Edit. Then just click on the Birthday category, deselect the “news” category, and choose Save.

One of the reasons I added the new categories is because the “News” category is a little too general and is becoming unhelpful. If you have any ideas please let me know.

thanks dad for changing that. It was always an inconvenience to change– look for it and de-click it. thanks!
