Interpreting

by micah on December 12, 2005

Well, I am enjoying volunteering as an interpreter at Erlanger – for the most part. Today I had a lot more fun because I got to interpret for a case manager on some discharge stuff. Recently the other interpreters have been encouraging me to follow them around to learn how they do things (instead of spending all my time at the pediatric clinic register desk for four hours). They seem really pleased with me and intent on trying to get my hired, so they’re trying to give me all the experience I can get 🙂 Needless to say, I’m glad they like me enough to want to hire me.

Now I just need to wait and see if Erlanger will actually open up a position so that I can actually be hired. I was told today that they are in the process of preparing a budget, so things sound hopeful. Then again, two of the currently hired interpreters were hired six months after their job interviews!!! I’m praying that things will move more quickly in my case, so I can start paying off my college loans more quickly.

That’s so cool that the interpreters really want you to work!
