Here are some more pictures from our trip to Bunde:

We had a typical Eastfrisian breakfast near the bus station in Leer before heading out to Bunde for the first time!

First thing we did was follow the church bells to this church, which we later discovered was where Thije had been baptized.

We checked the cemetery here and found one Waalkens. Then we went to another cemetery, a much bigger one, and found one Waalkens.

We also went to the church office and the ladies there were very nice and informative.

This windmill was built around 1860, so I kind of wonder if Frieling helped with it or watched it being built. Interesting…

That is all I can remember right now about the first day, but I’m sure Seth can fill in any gaps I left out đŸ™‚

It seems incredible to see you both there. It looks like a large town, larger than I expected. Food looks good although I am not sure about cabbage for breakfast. Glad you got to do this together while you are on that side of the pond.

It is good that you had this opportunity to visit Bunde. My grandma Walkins Waldecker was from Holland. Thanks for the pictures. Sorry that you did not find more Waldeckers there.

Somehow I missed this. I think I was on vacation. I like the look of Bunde. Thanks for the pics.

It looks like a nice town. It looks very clean. I’m not used to seeing practically every building in a town built of bricks!
