Audrey Chronicles

by Audrey on December 25, 2012

I do apologize for my tardiness in writing an update on how things are going in the Audrey world. I believe I’ve worn myself out, resulting in a most needed and appreciated Christmas break 😀 Below is a sketch of themes in my life by category:

  • Job
    • Teaching German and Spanish at a Montessori school has been interesting. I’ve been asked to create a curriculum for these two languages in a Montessori fashion, which has caused me much anxiety. The reason for the anxiety is unclear, but I think a lot of it has to do with self-produced pressure to do a perfect job 😳 However, it has been a great opportunity and I often enjoy coming up with new ideas and trying to figure out how they can be realized. Right now I’m working on making an overarching plan for a given year e.g. in January we’ll focus on colors, so we’ll sing these songs and combine that theme with learning about winter.
    • For my job, I am also studying to get my Montessori Diploma which I hope to finish next December.
    • I’m also looking into getting a different job for two major reasons 1) to make more money to pay off my loans and save up for grad school and 2) it is a 2 hour round-trip commute every workday.
    • German tutoring/teaching to adults at Volkswagen! I’m pretty sure I was offered a job as a German tutor/teacher by I.O.R. which is the company VW uses to teach their employees German. It is part-time, but pays very well. I’m not sure if I will be able to do it with a full time job, being the chair of the mission ministry group and studying for the GRE.
  • Graduate School
    • I was going to take the GRE Dec. 1, but I did not feel ready so I postponed it until April 6. I’ll need to study hard!
    • I’ve pre-applied to Summer Institute of Linguistics in North Dakota, though I doubt I would do it this summer.
    • I have to research and apply to other programs.
  • Fellowship Times
    • The mission ministry group at our church meets every Wednesday evening. It is fun and refreshing.
    • SEYA: The St. Elmo Young Adult group is a group we’ve started that meets like once or twice a semester thus far, but it’s always fun.
    • Things I’m planning for the spring: line dancing with the middle school gals of our church, movie night with some friends at church and a peanut butter party with some friends in the area.
