Trip to Colombia again

by phyllis on September 22, 2012

Gary is already in Colombia and will be there a total of 3 weeks. I am leaving tomorrow and will be there a week. Two new families arrived and he is helping them to get settled. Things are going well but the families need to find housing. Please pray for all of our travels as well as the adjustment of the families to their new surroundings and language. Also pray for Seth, Andrea and Audrey as they hold down the fort here.

I got back Sat night but Gary won’t be back until Oct 7. It was a good trip but exhausting. Gary is pretty worn out so would appreciate your prayers for him. He has basically been working 12 hour days since he got there. However both families have their Colombian IDs, houses and furniture. They are not all moved in yet and they still have to sign up for language school so there is still much to be done. Thank you for your prayers. It was a little nerve wracking for me going around in taxis (we always had to take 2 and/or split up to go to 2 different places) in a city I was unfamiliar with but Gary on the first day explained the logic of the road system. I was at least able to know if the taxi driver was going in the right direction. All the taxi drivers were good and the Lord protected all of us as the new people had to pay for many things in cash so they were carrying around lots of it. Their children seem to be doing well despite the fact that they weren’t used to being left all day in the care of a stranger who didn’t speak their language. There are 6 all together ranging from age 1 to 7. Nathaniel Gutierrez has been a big help to Gary. He is the son of Gerry and Ruth. He was in college with Micah and Seth as well. They played intramural soccer together.
Gary has sinusitis and we were able to get an antibiotic for him. Pray it clears up before he has to travel on the plane on Sun. He is doing an amazing job. All the other missionaries are amazed at how much he has gotten done in so little time. He would really like to have an administrator for the program so you could pray for that too.

Thanks for the update. I’ll pray for his health and for an administrator for the program.
