AWaldecker Happenings

by Alan on July 2, 2012

Well…since it’s the time for updates, here’s a couple of things going on up this way.  We put an offer in on a house this weekend that was accepted.  We still have to go through all the inspections and such (and the Churchills know how sticky that can be!), but we are hopeful.  It will be inspected on Friday of this week, so we should know more then.  It is in Bristol, VA, very near to exit 3.

We will be having a graduation party for Josh (since he really didn’t get a graduation ceremony from HS) on Saturday evening, July 14.  Any and all are welcome to come (he will be delivering the Valedictory speech!).

We have been part of a new church plant in Bristol, started by some friends.  After 4 weeks, we’ve had upwards of 65 in attendance.  We really enjoy it and the kids have remarked how its the first church here that they’ve been interested in inviting friends to attend.  It’s called The Cure.

I had an interview for another job two weeks ago – back at the company I just left (United) – in their Foundation.  They wanted me to do something that was not a good fit or decent pay.  But I think I convinced them that I could be of better help in other ways.  It must have been at least somewhat convincing, as I have a second interview this Friday – and this one with the billionaire founder of the company.  I would appreciate your prayers for this.  Not really sure what to expect.

Dubb and Katy will be visiting sometime in early August.  Josh and Dubb need to be at Dordt on August 14 for football, so they will likely be heading out together around the 12th.  If anyone wants to see them, you are welcome to make plans to stop by.  At this point, we are tentatively set to close on our house on August 1, so you can come help move too if you want!  Caleb is just recovering from an allergic reaction to Penicillin (from Strep).  He was really bad and didn’t realize how sick he was.  Fortunately, the nurse at his work directed him immediately to see his doctor when she saw him swollen up and pimpled red.  If Katy were not in Europe for a class, she would have gotten him to the doctor sooner, but…well, on some things he’s a bit clueless.

That’s a brief update on the happenings for the AWaldeckers.  We will keep you posted on how God works in all these opportunities.

That’s very good news! May the Lord make all of these changes/events go smoothly and guide you in the job!

I would love to see you all and Caleb and Josh, and meet Katy, but our school year starts the first week of August 🙁 so we wouldn’t be able to see you all then. I do hope you have a wonderful time together!

Thanks for your information. You are all in our prayers. I haven’t discussed this with Judy yet, but I think that we can be there for Josh’s graduation. Dad

How was the interview, Uncle Alan?

They cancelled the interview. Decided they were not going to be doing anything new at this time.
