Thanks for everyone’s prayers regarding my employment. As you may know, I have had a number of interviews in a number of places. Some I liked better than others, and while this isn’t my first choice, the opportunity in Oklahoma is the ONLY door that God has opened. So, I am walking through it. Since the offer has been on the table a long time, they need me to start immediately. So, I will be moving to Oklahoma City this weekend and starting my new job on Monday.
I am sorta apprehensive about it because it represents a career change. I will no longer be in human resources and people development, but will be in product development (developing people development software products).
It was good to see family as often as we did over the last 10 years or so while we lived in the eastern third of the country. I will probably see you all again in about two or three years when I am looking for my next job and we move again. 🙂

You waited and were looking for the Lord to show His will. Since He is sovereign, we have to believe that He has. We will continue to pray that this job will only further your opportunities. We will pray that He continues to work out all the details. Dad & Judy
Thanks Dad. I am, in fact, grateful for God’s provision and that He clearly laid out His will. Thanks again for all your prayers.
We’re thankful to hear about God’s provision and will be praying for your transition into the new career. Adam and Kristen
Wow. Well you know we will come visit. I hope it proves to be a good career change. That is a big change for the whole family. We will pray for all the adjustments.
This really will be a big change for our family! I DO hope we will get many visitors!
You prayed for God’s leading, and you can be confident that He knows what He’s doing even when we don’t understand it all. Where in Oklahoma is this job?
I know this is hard – but one of the things I’ve been “trying” to learn over the past several years, is that God’s provision is what he provides. Too often I try to define his provision as what I want or think is best. That’s especially hard when his “provision” seems to be so far removed from our desires or wisdom. But whether close or far from our desires, his provision is his provision. The “trick” is learning to believe that enough to find contentment each day, even when every instinct inside you says, “this can’t be what God wants”. I’ve had to preach to my heart often on the drive to work – “you are exactly where God wants you to be and he has provided this unique opportunity just for you.” Not understanding “why” he’s providing something we don’t particularly like makes it difficult to believe sometimes, but I think that’s what he’s after (at least in me) – to learn that the real provision my heart longs for is HIM, and not the provision I thought would be better. That’s a tough lesson to learn. And I’ll be praying that God makes that real to you in these days ahead.
So – what plans do you have for the house? Is renting out your place an option?
We are in the process of interviewing 3 realtors. Also, we have to finish painting our bathrooms (get the wall paper off first). The realtor today suggested moving a bunch of furniture around and packing up most of our books. It seems people prefer the eye candy of vases over great books. We just had the yard manicured and we’ll probably get our pool opened, even though its too cold to swim. Then, we’ll price it to sell. But we don’t plan to rent it out.
Our sermon on Sunday was on the passage in Luke where Jesus is preparing for his death/resurrection. My take-away was, “just take the next step in faith and obedience. Our God is Sovereign and trustworthy.”
We will continue to pray for you as you follow the Lord’s providential leading, and as you face big changes in the process.
You’ll be in my prayers!
Let us know how we can help. When will you be packing up the books?
This is an answer to our prayers and we will continue to pray for the details in this move. We walk by faith, knowing God has the best for us.
I’m not exactly sure, but it needs to be pretty soon. I have two bathrooms to paint as well. I might just get started this weekend. We’d like to list it within about 2 weeks.
Uncle Alan, your post was encouraging to me. I am also looking for jobs.
