This semester I was going to teach a physics class at a community college in St. Louis, but I found out on Jan. 6 that the class was canceled due to low enrollment. My adviser was hoping that I could stay in St. Louis for a little while longer to finish training another of his students to use the code that I developed; so, I told him that unless he could provide me with some financial compensation, I probably wouldn’t be able to stay in St. Louis. My adviser said that he could hire me as a part-time staff member. Essentially, I will be getting paid the same amount as before, but I will only be working 20 hrs per week. So, I will be in St. Louis for a few more months.
One item of prayer is that God would provide another roommate. Both of my other roommates have moved out. I will be getting paid enough to live by myself, but it would be nice if I could share the cost of rent and utilities in order to save more money.
Another item of prayer is that God would provide a full-time job soon. I am not sure what God is calling me to do. Right now I feel inclined to go into teaching at the college level, but I would like to get a postdoctoral position first. For those who don’t know, a postdoctoral position is a 2-3 year job doing research, usually at a university, and is designed to build up one’s resume before applying for a professorship. The job description is similar to that of a graduate student doing research, but the idea is that one is now more independent from his or her adviser. If possible, I would like to find a postdoctoral position in Georgia, Tennessee, or Alabama, so that I can be closer to family, but so far I haven’t found any for which I feel comfortable applying.
I would also appreciate prayer for a wife. I am hoping that since I will only be working 20 hrs/week I will be able to devote more time to finding one.
Thank you for all of your prayers so far. I know that God will supply all my needs, especially through your prayers.

Seth,

Praying, Seth!
I’ll be praying.
We are praying for you to get a room mate o help with expenses and that God would lead you in finding a wife. Ruth has a friend right now, so perhaps she is not available. We have not heard anything about Rebecca Austin recently. We did think of Hannah Conroy. She is working on a masters degree at what used to be called Columbia Bible College in our day. I forget what it is called now. Her family is with MTW and Wycliff in the Philippines. Her brother Daniel is a second tear student at Wheaton College. We know her because Redeemer Church supports them. Mrs. Conroy is a daughter of our former pastor , Tom Champness. We don’t know if she is seeing someone special or not. I haven;t helped much I guess. But we sill pray that God will lead you and that you will be sensitive to His leading. Grandpa T0m
I’m glad you were able to get a job with your former adviser this semester. I’m praying for you, brother!
We’re glad to hear that you got the job, and we will be praying for you and for God’s direction in your life.
I have been and will be praying for you in these things, Seth!
