The ref seemed to have it out for the US team.

The U.S. Started their World Cup one game late… it was a good game, but rather dirty. And the card happy ref didn’t help, lol. If only they could have pulled out one more goal. Well, if only they could have pulled out one goal, they didn’t exactly score the first one.

I feel the ref was pretty imaginative with his calls. Some people are not too happy about the games the US has played since so many new time viewers to soccer are watching. They believe that the first game the US played was a poor performance on the US side (I agree) and that the game yesterday against Italy was poorly reffed (again, no arguments). Their concern though is that people whom don’t normally watch soccer will be turned off by these last two performances and not want to watch soccer anymore. Well, as stated above, I agree that there were things wrong with the two games, but I think that yesterday’s game will be very appealing to many Americans. Americans love the underdogs and they loved it when 9 US players stood up against a heavily favorite Italy (whose players could not name a single US team player and whose coach said he wasn’t worried about the American team) and eaked out a point. It wasn’t the prettiest of games, but it was one that will stay on the DVR for a while. If the US had managed to score that second goal, it would have been another Miracle on Ice type game. As it is, we will have to await the results of the third and final games of the first round. GO USA and GO ITALY!

There are times when the distance between us is regreted. It would have been great to view the game together. From the pictures it looks like a great time together. Hope the US moves on to the second round.
