USA vs. Morroco

by micah on May 29, 2006

Nathan and I (and two of Nathan’s friends) went to go see the US national soccer team play the Morrocan national team last Tuesday in Nashville. It was a lot of fun. We were pretty close to field and could see very well. Also, we were in a section of Morrocan-Americans who were pretty lively (except, most of the time they wanted to sit down. 15 minutes into the game the people directly behind us kept yelling for everyong in front of them to sit down–so they could see–while the Americans in front of us stubornly remained standing. They eventually sat down, though).

In the 87th minute the US defense broke down, the Morrocans had the ball, and we lost 1-0 🙁 O, wll, it was fun to go nonetheless!

It was a very fun time and I am quite excited about the upcomming world cup. Waldeckers across the pond — what is feeling about this years cup prospects?

Micah, while telling how exciting the game was, did not finish the story of our adventure. Aside from it taking about 30 minutes to get out of our parking spot (there was 26,141 in attendance), TDOT (TN Department of Transportation) or whomever has jurisdiction of interstates, decided to make a 4 lane interstate, a one lane interstate or parking lot in the span of about two miles. A trip that should normally take just over two hours took from about 9:30pm to 1:45am when I finally pulled into my drive way.

We had fun listening to music and watching fellow attendees of the soccer match start kicking a soccer ball along the shoulder of the interstate.
