In Italy

Hello everybody,
I arrived successfully into Milan, along with Bob Charity, a research professor at WashU. From there we had to take a bus to the train station, from which we took a train to Verona. Here we had to get off and take another train to Trento, where the workshop is taking place. The whole trip took about 3.5 hours. After we got into our hotel room ( Bob and I are sharing a room ), Bob and I took a walk around the town. We took a few little alley ways to a pizzeria because we hadn’t eaten lunch yet. Then we went to a small ice cream place. The consistency of the ice cream was very different from the ice cream I’ve had anywhere else. Very smooth and creamy. Some of the best I’ve had. The country here in the North of Italy is quite beautiful. We are surrounded by the Dolomite mountains, the sky is a clear, dark blue, and the climate is mild. There is a nice river running through Trento as well. The place reminds me a lot of Chile, except that the grass and foliage seem a brighter green and the inhabited places are much tidier. Many of the people also remind me of Chileans, which shows that there is indeed a lot of European influence in Chile.
