Snow on Lookout Mountain

by Gary on January 29, 2010

We don’t get snow here very often. Today I think we got 3-4 inches. More expected tonight. I think it’s the most snow we’ve had since we’ve been here.

It has been SO MUCH FUN! We had a hard time finding a place to go sledding. We found a pretty good place, but it posited the danger of landing in the unfrozen creek. We actually did land in the creek a few times, but it was shallow enough that the tabogans were able to form an effective barrier between us and the water. I hope we can play in the snow some more tomorrow!

We’ve been getting lots of snow today in Winston, but I heard it’s supposed to snow all through tomorrow as well (…praying for no school on Monday!).

Its snowing here too. So far, I think we have about an inch, but I think a lot of ours is sleet and not really snow.

We’re still snowed in today, in the sense that trying to get down the mountain would be dangerous. It’s supposed to warm up to above freezing this afternoon.

Church was canceled for us today. Most people aren’t out and about here yet either, but the snow is melting fast. Linnea and I got some more sledding in today, but I think that will be the last of that for a while. The roads are mostly melted now.

They got almost 8 inches where James is.

I think we got more like 5-6 inches of snow.

Wow! 5 Inches is a good sleddin’ amount. There’s still about 4-5 inches on the ground in Davidson. The piles in our parking lot will be around in March.

It’s a treat when you get snow in the south. Actually we don’t get that much here either. Our snow came a few days after yours, 2/2 -2/3. We got about 3 inches.

And it HAD to snow when I—I—wasn’t there?!?! Oh, well. I’m glad it DID snow and that you were able to enjoy it!
