Gary is in Colombia this week

by phyllis on November 2, 2009

The MTW  Latin American leaders and Latin leaders will be meeting outside of Bogota. I know Gary would appreciate your prayers. He was able to get through customs which he was a little concerned about since he took a lot of electronic equipment with him. I thought I would list some specific requests– besides the obvious safety and travel items. There are about 60 people and about a third are Latins which is the most they have ever had at one of these meetings.

Gary is one of the organizers as well as one of the speakers so he has been busy with this for a while and some people who said they would do certain things are not coming or are leaving early so there are certain things that still  need to be sorted out.

Tuesday- Gary and Larry Trotter will lead interactive sessions on the effectiveness of Christ centered preaching.

Wednesday- various people will be presenting but Gary might have to fill in for those who couldn’t come

Thurs– Talks on evangelism from both missionaries and Latin colleagues. In the evening finishing with a worship service and communion which is usually a highlight

Friday– return

Thanks

I have been praying for this conference and will especially remember the daily events to the end. I also asked the folks at Redeemer to remember to pray for this event. I trust that they will. I will also pray about his safe return. Dad

Thank you for your prayers. I got home last night. The conference went very well. People were saying it was the best one we’ve had. There was a clear moving of the Holy Spirit among us. There were over 60 people representing at least 11 countries. The technical things like translation and recording went well also. The food was good. I didn’t always get the sleep I needed, but I slept very well last night. Thanks again for your prayers.
