In NYC with the Brauers

by micah on October 25, 2009

Ok, so this is a LONG OVERDUE account of my trip to NYC with the Brauers. It was a Wednesday, early in August—perhaps the 10th? They drove into the Port Authority, and I took the Long Island Railroad to meet them there at about mid-morning. The first thing we did was go to the Sony Wonder Technology Lab—which was really cool. It was basically a “museum” of what technology (has done and) can and will do, and there were a whole bunch of ways to interact with technology.

First we each received a card with a chip in it so that the technology lab could identify each of us at each station. Here is Aunt Sharon and Uncle Woody creating their identity in the system and logging in.

The other cool thing we did was create our own news broadcast. Here is a video of (most of) the final product.

I also got three video clips of this interesting device that could sense the position of key points on your body using light (?). This chamber then mapped your movements to make a digital image dance 🙂

Here are some more pictures from our trip.

Lunch in Little Italy was exquisite

After going to the technology lab, we took the subway to Little Italy where we enjoyed an amazing dinner at La Mela

Resting on the Subway

Resting on the Subway—we spent a LOT of time in the subway 🙂

Uncle Woody and Micah had a lot of fun determining how to get to each of the places we visited.
