help my knee need kneadin’ no more

by sejwa on September 15, 2009

Dear Lord, help my knee need kneadin’ no more,

Lord, Lord, help my knee need kneadin no more.

Ha, ha, ok enough of the alliteration. I have a prayer request for my left knee and my left leg in general.

For more than a year my left leg has been giving me trouble, and I haven’t been able to run or play soccer

during this time. The physical therapists I’ve been to have said that I am using my iliotibial band too much,

which causes leg pain and knee pain. I often find myself massaging my left leg muscles because of the pain

(which is why I used the analogy of kneading in the above negro spiritual ).

Two doctors I’ve seen have come to the conclusion that the main problem is over pronation–that is, my feet

rotate inwards when I step. One doctor says I probably need custom made orthotics, which generally run from

200 to 300 greenbacks. I am willing to pay that much if I know that orthotics will allow me to run and play soccer

normally, but I’m just not convinced.

I have an appointment with a physical therapist on the 29th of Sept., and she is going to try to evaluate whether

orthotics will really help. I talked with her on the phone and told her my doubts, and she seemed understanding. I told

her that I bought some new shoes designed for over-pronaters, but that they cause worse knee pain than my 2-year old

pair; so she said that a careful evaluation needs to be done before deciding on custom orthotics.

I am very sad that I haven’t been able to run and jump and play soccer for over a year, so I would immensely appreciate

your prayers.

Dad, I couldn’t get the paragraphs to stay indented. Is there something special that needs to be done for indentation?

On the toolbar you will find a quote tool. I just selected the two lines and clicked the quote tool. Another option would be to click on the “Kitchen Sink” tool, which reveals a second line of tools. In this second line you will find an indent tool.

I had my appointment yesterday. The lady I saw seemed to know what she was talking about, and pointed out several things that are wrong with my feet. In addition to the over pronation, she said that the position of me heel is about 11 degrees away from neutral ( still not quite sure what that means ), which apparently is alot. She also noticed that I have several small plantar warts on my feet. She said that these are often an indication of abnormal walking patterns.
In short, I decided to get custom orthodics. I should get them in about 3 weeks. Thanks for your prayers!
