Panic!

by katie on August 4, 2009

Although less groundbreaking than my last post, this one is just as important.

I am hosting a party next Tuesday, the 11th.  I invited most of my drama class as well as my new youth group and two or three people from my church.  I would be very grateful if any of you had some game suggestions.

I had a few ideas myself, but all of them have ‘ifs’ attached and that leaves things on somewhat shaky ground.  For instance, we could play volleyball, IF I can borrow a ball and IF the court isn’t being used.  We can play basket ball IF the court is free, we can play frisbee IF I can find it…(where is that frisbee anyway?).  I also thought we could play Taboo or something, but we can’t find it.  I do have catchphrase, which is sort of like Taboo…

Anyway, bottom line is I’m having a party in just one week and I have no idea what we should do!  If anyone had any ideas, that would be wonderful!

I am having a party, as well (Friday), and I haven’t planned anything, either. (Besides hotdogs & marshmallows on the fire pit.)

Catch Phrase is the utlimate party game–unless you count Twister, which has the unfortunate side-effect of civilian casualties every now and then… Hmm, I guess no Twister then…

There’s the rhythm game. Ask Emily how to play. There’s charades, which it seems drama people would do well at. 🙂

Or you could play telephone charades. Remember when we played that in Ridge Haven? That game always gets me laughing.

I just remembered two games that we played in drama class last year.

1. There is a bag that you can’t see into(such as a pillow case) filled with random odds and ends. A person takes an object out, and someone else gives them a situation. The person then has to use that object as a major prop in a skit of that situation.

2. Building a machine. A person thinks of a machine, then stands up and pretends to be a part of that machine(helicopter blades, the tail… the blades in a blender… ect.) As soon as another person figures out what machine it is, they stand up and become a part of the machine also.

In class we built a tractor, helicopter, a mixer(cord and electricity included), a washing machine, and an oil drill. It was lots of fun!

You could also play the family game–have we ever played that with you?
