Fun vacation+fun camera=fun pictures

I took hundreds of pictures on vacation! Here are a few from each thing we did:

First, we went to Blowing Rock, and walked around town.

I got a new bag.

We stayed in a lodge that night. The next morning, we took pictures on the porch.

Then we went and took a long, long hike. We saw waterfalls.

Later, after hiking back up the steep mountain, we had pizza! Then we went to see the “Blowing Rock.” It is named such because of the perpetual wind that blows upward from the valley below it. It was a great view.

Here is another view:

This is where I was standing when I took that last picture:

Here is the actual “Blowing Rock”:

It reminds me of Pride Rock.

After Blowing Rock, we went back home for a night, then went to Myrtle Beach. We stayed at a hotel…

…on the beach.

While we stayed there, we also went to a garden place, which used to be a rice plantation.

There were also some animals at the garden. I liked the otters!

I loved seeing the gardens, and so did the butterflies.

The next day, we headed off to Charleston and walked around the historical town.

The day after that we did two things. In the morning, we went to the Aquarium. Most of my pictures turned out blurry, because the fish were behind glass (of course) and wouldn’t stop moving. Here are a few of my not-quite-so-blurry pictures.

In the afternoon, we went on a nature tour. We took a boat to an uninhabited island, and we learned all about the sea life.

Last, but not least, we went to Middleton Plantation on our last day. It was a huge plantation, where there used to be a huge house; but the house had been burned down in a war. It was a beautiful place.

We were just walking along a path that went next to the swampy pond, when we noticed an alligator on the bank right next to us. It hastily swam away, but I managed to snap a picture of it.

Hey there!

This peacock was very noisy.

TTFN,

Emily

Looks like a very lovely vacation. How was the weather? This morning it was 45 F! You did a good job of taking pictures and narrating–I almost feel as though I went on the same vacation 😉

The it rained off and on, but there was enough sun time to still do all the things we did. I think we all got sunburned at the first garden place.
