China & Work

by micah on March 30, 2006

Well, I had an interview with the pastor and an elder (?) of Rock Creek (Nathan’s Church) for the administrative assistant job. I think the interview went well – though I was somewhat intimidated, though I don’t know why, there really was no need to be – and I’m not sure exactly how they will decide. If they gave me the job, it would at least be a one year commitment, with which I would be willing and content.
I’m praying that God will grant me this job if he wants me to be serving Rock Creek in that capacity. If I get the job, then I will definitely not be going to China – at least this year. I am still intersted in going for the sake of learning (Chinese, about Chine, etc.) and it would be possible for me to go next year if Jesus were to lead in that dirrection.

Oh, I also got some substantive answers back from Erlanger. The interpreters’ boss received approval to plan another interpreter position into the budget and the budgets will be set near the end of April. So, by the end of April I will be able to know whether there will be an interpreter job to be filled. If so, it would start in July. Since there is a strong (I think) posibility that I will be working for Rock Creek, I asked whether I could work part-time at Erlanger (assuming the position was available and that they wanted to hire me). I was told that this would be possible – the job could be split between two people (so I offered Mom as a prime candidate for splitting the job with!!).

I think it would be wonderful to work part-time for Rock Creek and part-time for Erlanger and also have Mom working as an interpreter!! In any case, I’m praying for God’s will to be done, confident that all things will work out for our best.

Micah, I am so excited about the Rock Creek job! I don’t know why, but I just am! I do hope you get it, and I am praying for you.
