Since Seth went to Covenant College and majored in physics, and since the physics department is small and consists only of two professors, Seth got to know them pretty well. Covenant students are required to take a lab science, and Micah and Andrea took Astronomy with one of the physics professors, namely, Dr. Broussard. Dr. Petcher, the other professor, and Dr. Broussard were “fighting” over me (in jest) because they wanted to have the last of Seth’s siblings to take their lab science class. Well, I think Dr. Petcher was a little more animate about it, in large part because of his personality, and also because Dr. Broussard had already had two of Seth’s siblings in his class.I decided to take Astronomy with Dr. Broussard.
I was working in the Tuck Shoppe one day, when Dr. Petcher comes in. He looks at me and says in German (oh, I forgot to tell you that ever since Dr. Petcher learned I could speak German he almost never talks to me in English, and only in German), “I am angry at you.” I asked him why, knowing the reason, but trying to keep up a conversation. He said because I was taking Dr. Broussard’s class and not his. He kept saying that he could never speak to me again (in German, of course).
When Seth came for Christmas, he went to visit Dr. Petcher and I asked Seth to put in a good word for me 🙂 I also mentioned to Seth that for my German class we have to read a play called “The Phycisists,” and thought maybe this would mend to the conflict. Seth said that Dr. Petcher said he could not speak to me unless he spoke to me in German, which, he pointed out, was not really speaking to me. He also said he was going to buy the play “The Phycisists,” too!
So, that is the funny story 😀
