As some of you know (and praying) Eric has been out of work for a while and after talking with him about his limited prospects there and how far he is from family we encouraged him to come live with us and seek a position here in a place where there are more job possibilities and the encouragement of family. So, last weekend on Halloween night Sharon and I left around 8:00 PM and traveled to Pensacola Florida (1100 miles). We arrived Saturday night, had a good night’s sleep (as contrasted with Friday’s), rented a U-Haul trailer, picked Eric up and drove to Lookout Mountain where we spent the night at Nathans and had a good breakfast at Gary and Phyllis’. Since we lost a tire about 50 miles from Lookout Mountain we brought tires (2) in Chattanooga and then at mid day took off for Pennsylvania. Well, you can’t travel as fast with a trailer behind and climbing mountains was a chore so the engine overheated and we had one more pit stop while the engine cooled down some place on I-40 just before the I-81 exchange. So after that experience we dropped our crusing speed to 65 and everything was fine but we didn’t get home until 3:30 AM. Still God was good in providing safe spots to change a tire and a place to restore engine coolant right where we needed to. With Eric home we decided to enlarge the livable space in our home and finish a room in the attic. So using the trailer we didn’t need to return for a week we made two trips to Lowe’s and we currently have a construction project going on. Eric has a couple of prospects for employment he’s looking into plus there is a wire manufacturing company 1 mile from our house that has had a help needed sign out that he is going to look into tomorrow. When we went down to Florida one concern we had for Eric is how is he managing to live without a job. Well, he may have been far from family but he is not friendless! He never told us about his lifestyle and how unselfishly he has befriended and helped many people. The married couple he was staying with were very sad he was leaving and the stories they told us were very heart warming. You all know how infrequently I post to the blog. God is working in all of us, to make us more like Christ and we all all busy doing many of the same things. This is a part of what has been going on here. May God Bless you all where he has you.

Thanks for sharing Woody. We will be praying that God will provide Eric with employment soon. Enlarging the tent sounds exciting!
Thanks for the update, and we’re glad we got to see you along the way.
I am glad Eric is home with you and will pray for a good job soon! Wish we could have seen you on the way by—but you had many unplanned stops to deal with!! 🙂
Both Eric and Nathan have been regularly in our prayers. But the fact that he would move to PA never entered our minds. We will pray that he will find a job soon. Dad & Judy
I’m glad Eric is with you. Hey, maybe you could frequently post pictures of the progress of your attic!!! That would be fun. We could cheer you along!
I second the motion about posting pictures.
Ok I took a few pictures of the work so far, the room is about 60% framed and will be roughly 11’x14′ with an angled ceiling leading to a flat ceiling. I’ll post pictures tomorrow. I would hope to have it completely framed by Saturday night but in the meantime I have meetings on Tuesday and Wednesdays and presbytery on Saturday. Plus I’ve got a fund letter to get out this week for the Park association. Life is full.

Praise God for his goodness! Thanks for sharing this.
I’m also glad that Eric is now in PA, especially since I’ll get to see him for thanksgiving in addition to seeing all of the Brauers (except for Nathan 🙁 )!
What an adventure! I will pray for Eric’s employment, too! I really like your attic, so it will be cool, indeed, to see it finished off a bit!
