Some New Features

You’ll notice several changes to this blogsite.

1. I upgraded the blog software to a newer version. This can be see mostly in the administration section where you write your posts and such. It’s a little more intuitive. One inconvenience is that the “Excerpt” section where you write a one line introduction is now below the main writing area. You may have to click on its plus sign to open it up. Uploading pictures is much easier. Read about it in the “How to Post” page found on the home page of the blogsite. Click on “About” and then on “How to Post.”

2. I added the option of selecting from several “themes.” This can be found in the sidebar. The one you choose should be the one that comes up for you whenever you go to the site–until you change it, that is. The content doesn’t change. These themes are not different sites. They are different “clothing” for the same content. For the most part they all have the same functionality, but each have a different look. I’d be interested in knowing which one you like the best. The original theme is called “Elvgren.”

3. When you click on a category or page, it’s sub-categories or sub-pages appear.

4. After you login, you will see an administration bar at the top of the page. This allows you to go quickly to the administration section where you can write a post or manage your comments and posts and other things.

I’m still working on a few of the details, but I think it should work fine. If you find any problems, let me know.

If you have any questions please let me know.

I just discovered that the Dapit Hapon theme doesn’t work well with Internet Explorer (at least not with the Macintosh version.) If you use Internet Explorer, choose another theme. In any case, Firefox is better than Internet Explorer. You can get it at: http://www.mozilla.com/firefox/

There is a Mac version and a Windows version.

Safari seems to work fine, but I like Firefox better because of all the extensions available for it.

Editor’s Note: I got rid of the option to change themes. It seemed to cause too much confusion.
