Thanksgiving

by Gary on November 21, 2005

For those of you who live across the pond and might not know, most of us are celebrating Thanksgiving at our house this year. Several are arriving here on Wednesday. We are also planning on giving Nathan a kind of house warming–help him fix things up in his new house.

We wish you over-the-ponders could join us. Since Thanksgiving isn’t a holiday over there, what are your plans for this week?

We will be celebrating Thanksgiving on Wednesday, since Melissa has to work on Thursday. Janie tried to find a turkey at the grocery store today, and came home with 3 separate pieces: a leg, a breast, and a thigh. It won’t be quite the same, but then I never really liked the turkey that much any way. Pumpkin is impossible to get here, but some friends mailed us a couple of cans, so at least we can have the pie. The hardest thing will be doing without the butterhorn rolls. The butter here is SO different, that baking anything familiar comes out almost uneatable. On a positive note, they are predicting snow here for Thursday, so maybe we can have a white Thanksgiving.

We miss being with you all – especially at family celebrations like this. Eat a few butterhorns for us…

I will eat some rolls for you, with all my heart! Hee, hee! I miss you all! Wish you could be here, and enjoy that snow! We can swap, you enjoy the snow, we enjoy the rolls!

I miss you all. I keep imagining you all at our house for the upcoming Thanksgiving celebration, but then I remember you are in England.

It was nice to talk to you via computer yesterday. We really missed you. We had a good time working on Nathan’s house. Lots of painting and sewing. It looks good too. Maybe Gary has a picture he can put on here.
