Planning for Family Reunion–Part Two

by Gary on June 19, 2008

In this post we will address the issues of Activities and Food.

Do you want to do this the way we have done in the past:

  1. Each family brings things for breakfast and lunch. This can be shared.
  2. One family prepares a main meal for everyone according to a sign-up sheet.
  3. A family (not the one in #2 above) cleans up after each main meal according to a sign-up sheet.
  4. Each family prepares/organizes a group activity according to a sign-up sheet.

Also, we suggest that the parents go out to eat for lunch on Saturday (or Friday the 4th) at the Chop House. You can get lunches for $9.99, $8.99 and $7.99. There are also lots of other things on the menu. But this will give you an idea. We would make reservations if you are interested.

In your comments please let us know your ideas and suggestions.

The only question I have about the traditional way (which I like) is this: if each family organizes/prepares an activity, will we do other activities as well?

I don’t think organized activities preclude spontaneous activities.

I like most of the activities. I like 2,4,6,7,10,11,12,14,15,16 best. I’ll let Janice speak to the sign up sheet. FYI, my brother will be vacationing in Chattanooga while we are there. If they wanted to, could they join us for some of the activities?

We did respond via phone, but probably should have done so here. We plan to arrive on the second around supper time. We will be responsible for the evening meal on the third. The menu will include ham, mac and cheese, squash, salad, etc. We will plan to return home on either the sixth of seventh.. OK with us to go out for lunch, Dad & Judy

In addition to our refrigerator, we also have a smaller one, and a large freezer that is currently empty–in case you are wondering about storing food.
