Though I’m still not sure what I will do with my life, two of the areas I’ve been looking into are linguistics and adult education. A couple of weeks ago, my dad forwarded me an email about a workshop/seminar on adult education called “Learning that LASTS”, which takes place in Dallas the week after Thanksgiving. I’ve worked things out with my jobs and such, and it’s working out for me to be able to go!
The workshop takes place from November 28 to December 4. One of our neighbors–who also attends our church–is a pilot for Southwest airlines, who gave me some free “standby” tickets, so that significantly cuts down the cost of going.
I’m pretty excited (and nervous, too, since I’ll most likely be the youngest person there) to see what I will learn and hoping this workshop will help me know what to do with my life. Nevertheless, what I learn there will most certainly be useful to me whatever I do with my life.
The other interesting thing about this workshop is that it will take place at the Summer Institute of Linguistics’ International Linguistics Center! So, whenever I’m not in the workshop, I’ll probably be trying to explore what career possibilities in linguistics I might be suited for.

sounds great Micah!
I think it’s neat that both you and James are interested in Linguistics. You’ll have to let James know about the conference and SIL.
I agree, it is very interesting…maybe we’ll end up studying and/or working together! 😀 That’d be neat.
