The Next Generation

Janie took this picture of Bryce today at football practice. He’s always hanging around and trying to play with the big boys. Last night we had our final party for our Junior team. It was a blast. We had an exhibition game – offense vs. defense (they obviously had to play both during the game), with Philip coaching the starting Defense and me coaching the starting Offense. The “O” won 38-36. It was a really hard fought game – they all said it was the toughest game of the year. To make it even more fun, it was played at night under the lights at a large stadium before all the parents and friends. Afterward, we had a party there, giving out awards and showing game film. I also told the boys that I wanted to start having them over every other Sunday for games (we’re renting the gym down the street), dinner, and chats around the table about God and spirituality. They all seemed eager and interested. Here is a picture of the gang from last night. The highlight of the evening was when the MVP award winner said that this was his real family (his own is quite messed up) and brought everybody up for a group hug. Some missionary friends of ours who were there were in tears.

How good that God affirms that work of our hands.
