Prayer for Housefire in the woods

by Audrey on September 12, 2007

As Andrea and I came home this evening, we saw a lot of smoke coming from around our neighborhood. We walked behind our house to see if it was there. Indeed, there was a house on fire. This house was being built, so there is a good chance there were no people in it. It is about two football fields away from our house. We would ask for your prayers that the fire would not spread and be put out. Thanks.

It smells smoky outside, but we don’t see any flames.

It was on the local news last night and they said it started around 5 which is when Micah came home and said he had noticed the smoke. I wonder if some hang gliders called it in because we walked over there almost immediately and there were 2 in the air circling. As of 9:30 last night they were still bulldozing around the perimeter. Gary and I walked over there this morning and only the foundation and a stone wall which I am guessing was a fire place are still there. It did look like the fire started to get into the trees so we are glad that it rained the day before yesterday and that the response was quick. It is on of the properties that we looked at with Dad and Judy that had been a farm. In fact the first smell of the fire was of burning cow dung. Thank you all for praying. There were still some smoldering areas when we saw it this morning and when we took our walk on the road we saw some small charred pieces here and there.

I just posted a picture of what’s left of the house that burned down.
