I bought a car!

by micah on July 29, 2007

I found out recently that I can work regularly at Erlanger–every Monday and Friday I’m available to work–which means that I will now have a full-time work week between my two jobs…which also means that I have enough money to purchase a car…so I did! Yesterday my dad and mom went with me to purchase a car. Below are pictures of my new 2003 Honda Civic. It’s black with a hint of blue.

It’s a very nice car, and I’m very thankful for it. It has power windows, mirrors, and sun roof!!

Here I’m taking a picture into the hood…and some furry passengers in the back 🙂

I like the looks of your “new” car. Treat it well by changing the oil every 3,000 miles and it will give you good service. Grandpa Tom

I like it! What kind of gas mileage does the car get?

Poppop, Thank you very much for the advice. I will make sure to keep track of my mileage so that I can service the car when it needs it.

Seth, according to the governments fuel economy website, my car should average 30 city/38 highway miles per gallon, which is pretty good, especially, I think, for an automatic transmission car.

Looks great! Interestingly, in England they recommend that you change your oil every 3 years or 10,000 miles. I still can’t figure out the difference – is it the oil, the higher octane gas, or simply good American marketing!

Uncle Alan:

I believe the answer is good american marketing. Micah and I looked in his manual and they reccomend the oil be changed every 10,000 miles, or once a year if you drive under normal coniditions, every 5000 miles or every six months if driving in severe conditions. Good to know, but they did not define normal or severe very well.

Stick with the 3,000 miles and you won’t go wrong. Grandpa

I just saw the post you made about your car. For some reason I didn’t get notification about it. I like it very much! I’m glad you were able to find such a nice car.

I agree with Pop pop. Changing the oil every 3000 miles will keep your car in tip top condition.
