Someone I met on the Waalkens website lives near Beerta, Netherlands. This is the town that most of the Waalkens came from. It is about 7 miles from Bunde, where the Waldeckers came from. He made a video of parts of the two towns.

This is a pretty cool video. I wonder how much the towns and country side have changed since Thije and Trintje left those places?
The landscape reminds me some of South Dakota, except there are a few more trees.
