A day in the snow

by sejwa on January 22, 2007

It snowed a few inches in St. Louis yesterday night and some this morning. I did not get to play in it as much as I wanted to, but I got to throw a few snowballs around with some friends. Here are some pictures:

This is the back yard of the Shaws. Aaron, Dihui, and I went there for lunch.

On the left is Dihui, on the right is Aaron Shelton, my new roommate.

This is a picture of part of the pond that is behind the Shaw’s property. There were these branched melting-ice formations all over the pond. Both Dihui and I independently thought that they looked like neurons.

Some of the “neurons”

In the foreground is Aaron Shelton. Behind him is Mark Shaw.

We had a snowball fight, but I wasn’t able to take pictures of it because I was being attacked. I guess I might as well take this opportunity to say a little more about Aaron Shelton. He is 32 years old. He started out strong in college, but by the second year he lost his motivation. He then joined the Marine Corps. in 1994. He traveled around the world some. I think he spend a year at a naval base in the Philippines. In 1998 he returned to the U.S. and finished college; at this point I should say what he majored in , but sadly I cannot remember if I have even asked him. I think that sometime between 1998 and 2003 he was involved in a reconnaisance group here in the States. I think his work here was related to busting drug traffickers; he has had to shoot people. In 2003 (or was it 2002?) he went to Covenant Seminary and finished last May. He felt called to be a pastor while in seminary, but now he is fairly certain that he does not want to go into the ministry. He currently works as a teller at Bank of America.

His dad was also in the military, so Aaron’s family moved around a lot. He went to college in Amhurst, Massachusettes (sp?), and I believe he considers that place home more than anywhere else. He likes Chinese culture, and for a time was very interested in martial arts. Today at the Shaws we were talking about Chinese culture, and Dihui remarked that Aaron knew more about Chinese culture than himself (at least in certain things).

Aaron looks like Uncle David’s younger brother, John. Thanks for the update.

Looks like fun. I know your cousins here in Charlotte are envious.

BTW, I thought you weren’t living with the Shaw’s anymore.
