Cool! Thanks for putting this on the family blog.
Looks very professional!
Thanks for putting this on, James. I was wondering if you could post the words to the song.
The final product looks great! Thanks for sharing.
Nice! Is the rain new? I don’t remember seeing it before.
The rain is not new… and actually, it was a friend spraying us with water from a garden hose while standing on top of a ladder 🙂
Here are the lyrics:
When we all were lads playing war upon the sand,
We would shout, “For guts and glory!”
Sticks and stones for shields and spears, we counted down the years
Till we’d fight for queen and country.
When the bannermen came, we put down all our names,
Said goodbye to our home by the shore.
Filled with tears, filled with pride, kin and lovers waved goodbye,
As we left to go on to war.
[Chorus]
Fight for home by the sea, though renown and victory
Ne’er adorn your unmarked repose.
Fight for wrong, fight for right, fight to sleep another night;
Only never fight for glory.
Ten thousand seasoned steps into the land of our undoing,
Band of brothers born in butchering:
Youthful flesh turned to scarred, eager hearts turned to hard,
As the band turned each pitch to victory.
[Chorus]
Now that childish battle cry, once we raised, left behind
Far more death, far more guts than glory.
Now it’s never I’ll be home to my bonnie by the shore,
Oh what fool would want to go soliderin’?
[Chorus] x2
