Here I will keep pictures of the progress of building our house. I will add to it each week.

Below is a picture of the beginning of the foundation. I think they might be called “footings”

The Building Permit

Sand and Mortar

Bricks and Cinderblocks

Here is the foundation brick (12-20-06)

1-1-07 Building Materials Arrive/Foundtion is sealed:

1-5-07: this week they began construction of the garages and the floor joists.

1-9-07 By last Friday the First Floor was framed and on Monday they put up the floor joists for the second floor

1-9-07 Today they are almost finished with the second floor. In the foreground to the right are the roof trusses, which will go up next. They put those up with a crane so I hope I can catch when they do that. The crew got a kick out of getting in the picture.

1-11-07: The house looked like this all day yesterday and this morning when I walked Rocky.

1-11-07: I had wanted to get a picture of the crane lifting the trusses to the roof, but I missed it. When the girls and I walked Rocky after lunch it was all done.

1-14-07 On Friday and Saturday they roofed the house and put a black sealing compound on the bottom of the foundation brick.

1-14-07 Here is a picture taken from the opposite corner of the house.

1-17-07 A plastic seal is put on the wood and the plumbers lay pipes

1-22-07: Windows and Doors are put in.

Below: Scaffolding for the brick work
Below: 2-5-07 Drywall is hoisted through an upper window

2-5-07 Bricks and Mortar Arrived today.

2-7-07: Today they began bricking the house. I see from the picture that they have put up some insulation in the garage. We have not gone in the house in a while because it is so muddy.

Progress on the brick laying
2-20-07 The brick is almost completed
Below is the backyard
Below: They washed the house and finished putting in the septic, which went in the front as well as the back. Much to our dismay they took out more trees in the front yard for the septic. It looks bare. We still have quite a lot in the back, though and I think they are finished with the septic system.

They have painted and put in the staircase spindles.
Below: They poured the driveway and sidewalks today (3-14-07)
Below: they added the support columns to the front porch (3-14-07)

I like having the historical view.
This will be interesting. I’ll make a link to this post in the links section.
Cool…it’s getting done! I be it is exciting! Do you go to see it most every day?
it already looks very different!
We go by about 2 or 3 times a day. Since we have to walk Rocky anyway, its a good excuse. Plus I drive by sometimes when I’m on my way somewhere. I added a picture. I think they are mostly done clearing the lot. They may finish up on Monday.
They will be laying the foundation this week: 12-17-06.
Things are moving right along.
your lot doesn’t look a thing like it did before! But soon there will be a nice house there.
I posted a picture of the foundation on 12-20-06.
Nice!
Wow! The foundation is coming along! (I’m not around during daylight hours so I only get to see the lot on weekends).
This is the week of January 1, 2007. More materials have arrived at the construction site. Today we saw some people there sealing the foundation.
Wow, they are going fast! When do you expect you will be able to move in?
The closing is set for sometime in April….probably late in April. I added a picture.
It’s exciting how the house is taking shape before your (and our) very eyes.
cool!
It is fun to watch. We got a nail in a tire, no doubt from driving by the work site.
wow-wee! Things sure are quickening pace once you get the foundation, it seems.
The house is going up quickly! This is when you see the most progress. I added 2 new pictures.
Nice to see steady progress.
I like that your house will be bordered by pine trees in the back.
By lunch time today the roof trusses were up. I really wanted to get a picture of the crane lifting them up, but I missed it. Oh well. I posted 2 new pictures.
That’s fast!
I agree, Daddy. FAST!
How exciting! I’m glad to see the picture updates. Looks great!
I put more pictures on to show the roofing. I also gave a different view of the house since I had always posted a picture taken from the driveway side. This week they are supposed to brick the house.
Today (1-17-07) The plumbers came to lay pipes and our house got covered in plastic. Now that the plastic is on, they can do the brick work. But no bricks have arrived yet.
What is the projected date your home will be finished and ready to move in?
They said our closing date is scheduled for April, but no date has been set. I would guess that it will be the last day of April or thereabouts.
Looking good!
Yesterday (1-22-07) Windows and doors were put in.
Very nice!
I like it muy much! When will they put the rest of the brick on?
Looks good. I’m glad you take these pictures as I haven’t been able to see the house lately.
2-4-07 Well, the house has been sitting quietly for a week or two, but yesterday men put up some scaffolding, which means they are getting ready to brick. The brick has not arrived yet, but I guess it will soon. I added a picture.
2-5-07 A truck with a crane arm delivers the drywall and puts it bundle by bundle through what will be James’ bedroom window. Someone inside the house pulls the dry wall sheet by sheet into room.
it all looks pretty neat!
2-5-07 The bricks and mortar arrived today.
Today they started bricking. I added a picture.
I took a picture this morning of the progress so far on brick laying.
I posted a new picture. The front and garage side are all bricked, now they are working on the other side. The back will not be bricked, but has a new siding called hardy plank, which is made of concrete.
it almost looks inhabitable! I like the brick color. Do you all like it?
Yes, we like the color. They started to do the drywall yesterday.
This past week shutters were put on the house, and the cabinets arrived. They also put up lots of trim work. They painted the back of the house and began the septic system. I added several pictures
Are they giving you anything more specific on the delivery date as they get closer to the end?
no, but they seem on track to be done mid april
wow – what progress!
WOW-WEE!
They keep cutting trees!!! Ouch!!!
This week they painted inside the house and put in the iron spindles on the stairs. I added a picture.
