Merry Christmas from Micah!

by micah on December 25, 2006

Merry Christmas, Everyone! I hope you are all having a wonderful day! Last night (Christmas Eve) our family opened all of our gifts except for the ones in our Christmas stockings. We had quite a wonderful evening.

After coming home from Poppop and Mommom’s house (where we had a wonderful time watching Charles Dickens’ “Bleak House” and spending time together and missing the Brauers and the Manchester Waldeckers), we went home, unpacked all of our stuff, and then went to church for a Christmas Eve service. It was a nice service after which we stood around the piano and sung a couple of choruses from Handel’s Messiah.

Then we went home, had some dinner (the cheese and sausage we got from the Churchills) and discussed what it means that Jesus is our King. My dad pointed out how the notion of a king is quite contrary to U.S. culture, where no one may be considered greater than anyone else. But Jesus is our King, to whom honor, respect, fear, and joy are due. The conversation was very fun.

Then we opened our gifts. Jesus blessed us with many gifts and for that I am thankful. The gift for which I am most thankful, though , is family: Dad, Mom, brother, sisters, grandfathers, grandmothers, uncles, aunts, and lots of cousins! How great it is that we love each other because Jesus loves us!

Anyway, I also got the following as gifts: a beautiful frame and matting of a painted feather, a really good book on the birds of North America, some very useful rope, a computer program (kinda like an e-srapbook/notebook), a new racquetball racket (from my parents and Poppop and Mommom – thank you!), a sleeve/”coat” for the laptop I purchased recently, and some music. I am very thankful for all of these things and they shall be very useful to me.

I hope you all have had a wonderful Christmas time together as well! Bye for now! ~micah

It was great to be with you all over the Holidays! I loved Bleak House. Can’t wait to see it again. We had a wonderful, if somewhat impersonal Christmas Eve service (along with about 3000 people we didn’t know) at Christ Covenant last night. Enjoyed Christmas dinner with some of my mom’s recipes cooked by Janice (mmm good).
Opening gifts was fun too.

Jesus is our king forever! what a comfort that his coming has brought us peace with God and that we can worship him without fear in this country.
