Over the years I have accumulated an array of multi-purpose words, but that I usually use when I am upset in some way. I thought it would be fun to write them down. Even I wonder where some of them come from.
- Taishunda
- Can express frustration but also wonder. Sometimes said with exclamation mark sometimes not depending on the weight of the situation. Also said when I am unhappy with myself.
- Aitashunda
- Sometimes say it to myself when I’ve committed a blunder.
- Taish!
- Usually said when I am angry.
- Darjuandi
- General usage. Something I might say, for example, if I can’t go to sleep.
- Yikety shnikes!
- *NEW* Sudden realization that I forgot something important.
- Ay tarita!
- (Spanish pronunciation Usually used when I realize I’ve done or said something that I regret.
- Yaita
- (Spanish pronunciation) Something I might say when I’ve discovered a mistake in my homework or when I am impatient. When I say it, I usually say it as I inhale through my mouth.
- Da
- General frustration.
- Parpienka
- (Spanish pronunciation) Something I just like to say.
- Weltaschnoug
- Pretty much a classic. I saw the word Weltanschaung in a Calvin & Hobbes comic strip, and my unobservant eye turned it into the above spelling. There are also many other ‘schnoug’ (shnoog as in book) variants, such as…
- Aichiwarfarfulschnougy
- (or something like that).
- Alakuti
- (Spanish pronunciation) Not sure what it means. Haven’t used it in while.
- Wunderbunucky
- I just now made it up.
Usually I don’t say these words aloud. It is usually in my thoughts, under my breath, or when I am by myself. It is interesting that I haven’t really developed a vocabulary to express happiness or excitement.

Dad, I had trouble getting the words left-aligned and equally spaced. I pressed enter twice at the end of each word, but for some reason the page doesn’t always notice the enter signal.

Weltanschauung: a life perspective or way of seeing. (learned that last year in shcool)
Cool words, Seth! I noticed that about half of them have the “sh” or “sch” in them. You must like that sound! 🙂
I think it is a very German sound. Weltanschauung is a German word. I believe German scholars were among the first to develop the concept of a world and life view.
