Our kitchen renovation is far from complete – but I thought I’d send along some pictures of what we have done to this point…

This is beautiful! What a difference taking out the wall made. And the island you built looks great. Did you find the design somewhere or did you create your own design?

We created our own design for the island. We took a few kitchen cabinets and cut them down and then made shelves around them. The top is still temporary. Eventually I want to make a wider top for it. For now, it’s just a nice piece of plywood. The cabinet with all the small drawers in it is a coffee/tea bar. We made that out of an old dresser. All the wood on it was from an old picnic table we found alongside the road.

I like it very much! I also like how resourceful you were in creating it all. Do you have a wooden door hanging from the ceiling?
