I wanted to send along a few pics. The first is a before and after picture taken from our living room. You can see some of the expansions we have done. The second is a progress picture of the new room. Notice the barn wood on the ceiling from the barn at Drew & Lissa’s house. The final pic is of Will – a young man we are hosting. Will hails from Decatur – just a few minutes from Dad & Judy. He has technically graduated from High School, but can only read at a 2nd grade level. He is here living with us over the next year – playing football for Tri-Cities (he has a year of eligibility left) and working on learning to read. We are also hoping to provide spiritual guidance and direction for him.

Thanks, you are making progress. The lack of light makes it difficult to see the extent, but thanks again. Dad
Thanks for sharing. Looks like a lot of work. Great progress. How did Will come to know about you all or vice versa?
Cool! I’ve been wondering how renovation has been going.
Thanks for sharing the pictures! It’s looking great.
Looking good!
It looks very cozy. A lot of work but it is always fun to fix up.
Looks like the wood we got from the barn was enough to cover half the ceiling. Have you been able to “harvest” more?
It took 3 trips to get barn wood, but we finally got the ceiling all done!
What does the barn look like now?
very bare. Melissa will have to take a picture!
Will you close off the opening to the new family room from the kitchen and expand the kitchen?
We have already closed off the door from the kitchen to the porch – and put upper and lower cabinets there. After this room is done, we will be putting stairs in the room where the second pic is (where the table is), coming back toward you (open steps to see through). Then we will take down the wall from the kitchen to the current family room and make a larger kitchen/dining room. Here is an updated pic of the room – the ceiling is all done now.
As for Will, he was part of the team in the summer – since a number of the boys at the Job Corps are on the team. But for some reason (no one is still sure why) he was asked not to return to the Corps. He really had no future in Decatur – especially with no reading skills. So we offered to host him here so he could get those skills while playing football.
