My Dad

by phyllis on January 3, 2012

My Dad isn’t doing well. He will probably go home to be with the Lord very soon. We are traveling today to go up there (Gary and I will travel this morning and Seth, Andrea and Audrey will leave this evening) and will be there the rest of this week. We are sad and happy at the same time. It has been hard to watch his decline. My Mom seems to be doing well at this point. Thank you for your prayers. One prayer would be for those in the family who do not know the Lord, that their hearts would be changed.

My Dad went home to be with the Lord at 1:50 PM. We were able to spend 4 hours with him. He was not really responsive but it did seem that maybe he was waiting until he had seen all of his children before he left us and we were the last ones to come. It was very peaceful and we are so thankful for that. We will know better tomorrow when the funeral will be as we need to meet with the funeral home. He will be buried in the veteran’s cemetery and so we have to do things according to their schedule. Thank you all for your prayers and I will keep you updated. The atmosphere has generally been celebratory with tears mixed in. We are so thankful he is at peace.

Phyllis, I’m glad you were there before he died. Yes, keep us posted. How is your mother?

Blessed are they who die in the Lord. You all will be in our prayers as you make all the arrangements for the funeral and for your mother and family as well. Dad & Judy

My Mom seems to be doing well but tired. It has been wonderful to see the support from neighbors, church, friends and Hospice. My main prayer request is for once we all leave what her living situation will be. We want to honor her wishes while making sure she is safe. The funeral will be this Monday, Jan 9 at Faith Baptist Church on Limestone Rd (where we got married). The viewing will be 6-7:30 PM and service 7:30-8:30 with light refreshments afterwards at the church. His burial will be Tues at 10 AM in the VA cemetery but just for family as the chapel only holds 50 people and we can only be there 15 minutes (don’t quite understand that as we can’t be at the grave site). He will have a gun salute by the VFW. Thank you again for all your prayers.
