Headed into a new school year

by Jannylynn on August 12, 2011

Hello everyone.

Well, we are headed into a new school year.  I’m sad to see James and Emily head off to college.  🙁  Emily will only be about an hour and a half to two hours away, but we will sure miss her on a daily basis!  James has only one semester left – a very busy one.  Besides being an RA, he is taking a heavy load of classes and preparing to take the GRE and applying to graduate schools.

Linnea will be entering jr. high.  She’s looking forward to the new experience.  This will be the first time I won’t teach any of her classes.

I spent the summer preparing for my 5th grade class so I could have a leg up on things.  But, as some of you know, I found out a couple of weeks ago that I’m now teaching 3rd and 4th grade.  The school had to combine classes and shift teachers because of low enrollment.  One teacher ended up without a job.  David encouraged me to approach the Academic Dean and see if I could work half time and share the teaching position with the teacher who was without a job.  I did  and it worked out.  So I will be teaching 3rd and 4th Humanities, Science, and 3rd grade Latin. I will work from 11 – 2:40.

David is “fixing” his dissertation proposal as his adviser suggested.  He has a date to appeal to GW concerning the University’s decision to drop him from the program.  I THINK he said it is September 7.  David, correct me if I’m wrong.

Anyone can add comments if I forgot anything.

Janice

Summer is a special time. I still remember the feelings of happiness I had in elementary school when school was out for the summer. And I didn’t usually look forward to the beginning of school in the fall.
I’m so glad you won’t have to work full time. Hope the last minute preparation they surprised you with won’t be too hard.
Will pray about the proposal.

I’m so glad you get to work half-time! Are you happy with the hours you work? They look like nice hours 😀

Emily, I’m so glad you are exciting about Union, doing your Creative Writing-Photography double major!

James, I hope and pray your last semester goes well and that the Lord will direct your path as he has promised!

Hope and pray the dissertation stuff goes stunningly well!

Yes we are sad to see two of our three children leave this fall. We enjoy it so much when we are all together.

I have to make some changes to Chapters 1 and 3 of my proposal. Chapter 2 is pretty much good. I won’t have the changes made by my appeal date, so pray that I will be granted an extension even though I won’t have the proposal defended.

Janice, I’ll be praying for you as you start school, and Janie, I will be praying for Alan and the car. We know all about old Tauruses.
