Please Pray

by Kristen on July 26, 2011

Hi Everyone,

As you may know, Jake and Joe have been living primarily with us for the past year, staying with their mom every other weekend and on Mondays until after dinner. We were surprised and delighted when this arrangement, for which we’ve prayed for years, seemed to be suddenly dropped in our laps last August. However, their mom(her name is Linda) has been very difficult in working with Adam and their lawyers to agree on terms to be written out in a custody stipulation. She’s being ridiculously demanding about how to divide holiday time with the boys, even basing her argument on untruths in order to try to get what she wants.  Many of you may not know much about her character, but she is a selfish conniving woman who is bent on making Adam miserable in every way she can. For her, this isn’t about loving her sons or being fair. For her, it’s a power struggle and it’s about hurting and upsetting Adam as best she can. Anyway, it’s been almost a year and she has refused to sign the stipulation so far. The lawyers have done what they can do. If an agreement can’t be reached between Adam and Linda, the next step is to progress towards going to court. We are prepared to do this, though we really don’t want to have to. Adam has been trying to talk with Linda in person and reason with her(otherwise, communication is usually through email). Only just this week has she agreed to meet with Adam and the boys in order for the four them to discuss this matter. A time has been set for 5:30 tomorrow night(Wednesday). Please pray that the Lord would soften her heart, that she would be agreeable with what Adam and the boys have to say. Pray for Jake and Joe. They are in agreement with Adam, but it will be tough on them with their mom trying to play on their emotions to try to get them to agree with her. Pray for Adam to have wisdom to know what best to say and how to handle the conversation as she may try to create a big argument and spin everything way out of control, as she likes to do. Please pray that Linda would agree with Adam on the terms the two of them and their lawyers have already written up and sign the stipulation at this meeting tomorrow night. It has been such a weight on us this past year and we pray that the Lord would remove it soon! Thank you all for praying with us!

Hi everyone! Thank you for your prayers. The meeting went very well, much better than anticipated. No complaints or arguments, she simply signed the papers and had her lawyer file them. Praise the Lord! A huge relief and answer to prayer!

Uncle David, if only it were so easy! No, part of the terms are that the boys stay with their mom every other weekend and for the day on Mondays. Tennessee will have to wait a few years more.

I see. Well, maybe someday. But praise the Lord that things are better.
