Our anniversary isn’t until August, but we celebrated it a bit early this year. Like Gary & Phyllis, this is our 25th. A man in the church here has a villa in France, and he offered it to us for a week. It’s ironic – years and years ago I promised Janie that on our 25th I would take her to Paris. She laughed (as did I). Well, we opted to stay out of the frantic city of Paris – and stayed by the beach. We were near Perpignan, close to the Med, and about 10 miles from the Spain border. We had the house all to ourselves – our own private pool – and had lots of time to relax and rest. Our favorite spot was the fishing village of Coulliere. We had some strange food (it was hard to order, when you don’t know what the menu says) and some beautiful weather. We also drove an hour and a half down to Barcelona on Sunday to see a friend and go to church with her. Ellen was Lissa’s youth group leader in California, and is now serving with Agape (Campus Crusade) in Barcelona. It was a great trip – a wonderful anniversary – and extremely restful.
