The Vacuum Cleaner Incident

by Gary on November 29, 2005

Most of you know that the vacuum cleaner we had purchased a few days before Thanksgiving died due to a misplaced and unmarked 220 volt outlet (the work of the previous owner of Nathan’s house).

Since there was nothing wrong with the machine, we were hesitant to bring to back to Walmart for an exchange. But we decided just to be up front about what happened and see what they would say. They said, “Don’t worry, we’ll take care of it.” And the did. We now have new, new vaccum cleaner–for which we are thankful.

Gary,

I can understand. We run into that all the time, since ALL of our plugs are 220 – but not all the kids remember or understand the concept. It’s a bit confusing knowing what can be plugged into what and with what watt. If you know “what” mean…

I am so glad to hear that there were no problems with the exchange. I have since identified the breaker that controls those outlets and turned it off.

I too am very very glad that you were able to exchange the vacuum!! I should have known the outlet was different. Yes, I am the one who plugged it in. Janice

Great News. It is still something to correct. Nate you should also tape over/label the breaker until someone can re-wire. DAD
